When to use a template
Templates are fastest when your show maps closely to an existing format. AI Show Director is better when your idea doesn't fit a well-trodden pattern.
Browsing
- Public: /templates — anyone can browse, no signup required.
- Signed in: /[org]/templates — same browse, signed-in flow lands you on the in-org clone screen.
You can filter by vertical (Film, Music, Tech, Hackathon, Association, etc.) using the pills at the top.
What ships in each template
Each template carries a complete configuration:
- Show metadata (name, tagline, description, default currency + timezone)
- Categories with descriptions
- A weighted rubric with criteria
- Pricing tiers (or "free entry" for hackathons / fan votes)
- A submission form with sensible field types
- Judging style + rounds (calibration where it makes sense)
The current official templates
- Indie Film Festival — 8 categories (Doc Feature, Narrative Feature, Shorts, Animation, Direction, Cinematography, Editing). External jury, blind, with calibration. Early-bird pricing.
- B2B SaaS Industry Awards — 8 categories (Dev Tools, Vertical SaaS, Go-to-Market, Data, Design, AI, CX, Rookie). Buyer rubric (problem-fit, ROI, UX, support, innovation). Hybrid 3-round.
- Music — People's Choice — 5 categories, free entry, public-vote IRV tally. Anti-bot via Ballotis.
- Hackathon — 5 categories, 1-week free entry, build/originality/demo/learning rubric, hybrid jury + people's choice.
Cloning
Click Use this template on the detail page. You'll pick opensAt and closesAt (the form defaults to opening today and closing 60 days out). Hit Clone — we create a draft show with everything wired:
- Categories, rubric, pricing, form, jury rounds — all editable
- A current Season pegged to the dates you picked
- Attribution recorded (
TemplateClone) so the original author gets credit if it's a community template
The new show starts in DRAFT status. Edit anything you want, then flip to OPEN when you're ready.
After cloning
Edits to the template later don't affect your show — you've forked it. If a new version of the official template ships, you'll see a notice but can ignore it.
