Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 2026.
This Cookie Policy explains how Aclamos, Inc. (“Aclamos”, “we”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the Aclamos awards platform and the Ballotis voting platform (the “Services”). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
You can change your preferences at any time using the button below or the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your device. We also use equivalent technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, fingerprinting signals during anti-fraud checks). Where this policy says “cookie”, treat it as meaning all of those.
The categories we use
1. Strictly necessary (always on)
These keep the site working. They cannot be turned off in our systems and are exempt from consent under GDPR Art 5(3) ePrivacy and equivalents in other regions.
- authjs.session-token / authjs.csrf-token — sign-in session and CSRF protection.
- aclamos-consent — your cookie-banner choices (this is also why turning everything off still leaves one cookie).
- aclamos-anon — opaque, first-party identifier used to stitch your cookie-banner choices to your account when you sign up. Doesn't carry any PII.
- aclamos_imp — used only when an Aclamos support engineer is impersonating your account at your request; sets a banner so you know.
- cf_clearance / __cf_bm — Cloudflare's bot-protection (Turnstile).
- __stripe_mid / __stripe_sid — set by Stripe when you reach a payment page.
2. Functional (opt-in)
- theme (next-themes) — dark / light mode.
- aclamos:sid — anonymous session id for client-side analytics; rotates every 30 days.
- aclamos:locale — preferred language.
3. Analytics (opt-in)
We run our own first-party analytics pipeline. No third-party advertising trackers, ever. Events are batched in your browser and sent to /api/track only after you opt in. IP addresses are stored as SHA-256 hashes only; raw IPs are never persisted.
4. Marketing (opt-in, currently empty)
We do not run any marketing or advertising trackers today. The “marketing” toggle is reserved so we don't need to ship a new banner if we ever add one.
Your choices
- The cookie banner asks you on first visit. Your choice is stored for 12 months.
- You can re-open the banner any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
- If your browser sends Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track (DNT), we treat that as an opt-out from analytics & marketing automatically.
- You can also clear your browser's cookies for this site at any time.
Changes
If we change which cookies we use, we'll re-prompt you for consent on next visit and post a banner on the site.
