Built for fast-turn campus votes
Email magic-link verification
Each voter clicks a link sent to their inbox before voting.
Ranked-choice (instant runoff)
Voters rank candidates; the weakest is eliminated and votes transfer until one candidate has a majority. Single-winner.
Short voting windows
Set when the poll opens and closes.
Optional public verification log
Turn on the audit chain in the vote settings before voting opens. Voters get a receipt token to confirm their vote is in the chain, and anyone can check the published per-option totals.
How it works
Step 1
Create the poll
Pick the voting method: single choice, yes/no, approval, or ranked-choice (instant runoff). Pick the High-Integrity Election preset for email verification and Tor/VPN blocking.
Step 2
Turn on the audit chain
Optional. Switch it on in the vote settings before voting opens.
Step 3
Open, close, tally
Voters verify their email with a magic link and vote. When the poll closes, the results are ready, and the public verification page shows the per-option totals if the chain was on.
Frequently asked questions
Can we run ranked-choice for student elections?
Yes. Ranked-choice in Ballotis is instant runoff (IRV): voters rank candidates, the weakest is eliminated and their votes move to the next choice until one candidate has a majority. It elects a single winner per poll. Multi-winner ranked-choice (STV) is not available.
What if a candidate contests the result?
When the audit chain is on (optional — turn it on in the vote settings before voting opens), every cast ballot is chained to the previous one, so tampering breaks the chain, and anyone can check the published per-option totals against the announced result.
Can voters confirm their ballot was counted without revealing how they voted?
When the audit chain is on (optional — turn it on in the vote settings before voting opens), every voter receives a per-vote receipt token at cast time. They can look the token up on the public verification page to confirm their vote is in the chain. Anyone can check the published per-option totals.
